Job description: This position is responsible for ensuring the effective workflow of their assigned areas and prioritizing job duties. The Home Health & Hospice HIM Tech is also responsible for the quantitative analysis ofa ll medical records for completeness and accuracy.

Required Skills
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medical records and medical record documents.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of deficiency analysis of medical records.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of computer keyboard and a typing speed of 35 wpm. Familiarity with computers and basic Windows and mouse skills is preferred.
  • Able to understand and follow directions.
  • Remain focused on the task at hand without getting easily distracted.
  • Capable of categorizing forms/documents within the medical record.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • High level of professionalism is needed for interaction with physicians and physician office staff.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to embrace changes in workflow practices.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a consistent level of performance; strives to maintain a steady level of productivity and provides consistent effort.
Required Experience

Required:
  • Associate Degree or Register Health Information Technology (RHIT) Certification
  • Two to three years of medical records experience
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • Valid California driver’s license and car insurance
Preferred:
  • Strong knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Hybrid medical records
  • Knowledge of ICD10
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Legal and Ethical Management of protected health information
  • Previous medical record department or medical office experience, especially in the area of discharge analysis or record completion
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medical records and medical record documents.
